Me llamo Sabine, tengo 60 años y vengo de Alemania. Trabajé como ingeniero de tecnología de impresión en una empresa internacional durante casi 40 años y renuncié a principio de este año. Como me gusta viajar, pero atribuyo más importancia a concoer a la gente y su cultura que a los lugares de interés, solicité un proyecto en Sudamérica a través de Visocial y vine al Colegio San Juan Apóstol.
Las lecciones escolares son muy diferentes aquí que en Alemania – mucho más animado y más fuerte – pero los estudiantes y profesores son muy amables y serviciales. Desafortunadamente, debido a mi muy limitado conocimiento del castellano solo puedo ayudar en las clases de inglés, ya que solo entiendo algunas de las preguntas de los estudiantes y solo puedo explicar mal en castellano. Estar en Arequipa ha sido una experiencia muy emocionante ya que participé en la lecciones y en la vida escolar de esta escuela. Pero seria más interesante si pudiera hablar mejor español. Recomiendo mucho hacer este tipo de voluntariado, pero deben tener un buen nivel del idioma de antemano. Una donación probablemente ayudaría más a la escuela, pero sin duda es emocionantes para los estudiantes trabajar directamente con los extranjeros. Hacen muchas preguntas interesantes.

My name is Sabine, I´am sixty years old and I am from Germany. I worked as an engineer of techonology during 40 years in an international company. I just quit this year.
I like to travel, but specially, I have a genuine interest in meeting people and their culture, that´s why I required to visit a project in Latin America, trough the Visocial Organization. That´s how I arrived to San Juan Apóstol School.
The school lessons in Perú are very different from Germany, in order that they are more entertaining and demanding, but in the other hand the students and teachers are more friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately I speak just a bit of spanish, so I could only help the students in their english lessons.
Being in Arequipa, has been an exciting experience. I was to able to participate in the students lessons and also help them in improving their english skills. I strongly recommend this experience to everyone, but I think it is important to know how to speak spanish first. If you want to help, you can also donate for the improvement of the school. But I insist that sharing and working with the students is an incredible life experience.
